James R. “Rob” Neal
Focuses on Personal Injury and Criminal Defense
James R. “Rob” Neal is the founder and owner of the Law Offices of James R. Neal, PLLC. After gaining extensive experience in numerous other areas of law, Rob now focuses his practice on representing injured people and defending those with criminal charges. Rob is an experienced litigator and has tried cases in most counties of Southeast Oklahoma. He is well known by lawyers and judges across this part of Oklahoma.
Rob understands each case is unique and very personal to the client. Not every client has the same goal in his or her case. Rob works to provide the best result possible for each client’s individual goal.
EXPERIENCED. Personal injury cases require a specific skill set. In more than 25 years of practice, Rob has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his injury clients and works diligently to hone his skills in the areas of personal injury and criminal litigation. He has a proven track record and reputation as a trial lawyer who produces positive results for his clients.
COMMITTED. Most of Rob’s clients come from referrals from current and former clients as well as other lawyers. He works to maintain long-term relationships with the families he represents and is proud of his reputation as a trial lawyer. He believes that to be the best, you must out-work the rest.
Rob believes in civic duty, which is a message he champions to juries. As a result, he is active in numerous organizations in our community, trying to make life a little better. He believes we should all work to leave our mark and ensure we leave the world a better place than we found it.
Rob grew up in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He moved back home to practice with Mr. Harold Hall, before opening his own practice. Rob has practiced law for more than 25 years and has trial experience in all types of cases, including personal injury, criminal defense, family law, civil litigation, social security, and worker’s compensation. He is a member of the following organizations:

He has served as Adjunct Professor at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where he taught the Law of Evidence. Mr. Neal is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Oklahoma; the U.S. District Court, Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Oklahoma; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit; and the Chickasaw Nation.
Joshua A. Edwards
Focuses on Family Law, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Matters, and Trial Litigation
Josh has practiced law in Ada for the last decade. He has developed a practice devoted to the representation of parents and children in family and juvenile law cases, people accused of crimes, and those involved in contentious civil litigation. His aggressive approach provides his clients with quality representation in the courtroom. His trial experience in a variety of cases allows him to professionally advocate for his clients in a multitude of legal settings.
Josh utilizes the latest technology in the courtroom and seeks to incorporate innovative approaches to fight for his clients.
DEDICATION. Never one to back down, Josh is tenacious in standing up and fighting for his clients. Josh’s goal is to aggressively advocate for his clients to achieve the best outcome in their cases.
DISCIPLINE. Josh understands the rigors of litigation in family law, juvenile matters, civil litigation, and probates. He is committed to providing the best representation possible, working vigorously to win for his clients.
EXPERIENCE. Knowledgeable in a wide array of practice areas, Josh tailors his expertise to each client’s case. In addition to handling more than 1,000 cases and countless trials, he has been published in state and national publications for attorneys and has provided education for attorneys in several practice areas including guardianships, appellate procedure, and constitutional law.
While committing himself to a full-time law practice, Josh currently serves his profession as District Governor for the Oklahoma Bar Association. He also serves as a board member for the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ada Lions Club. Josh graduated with Distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While there, he served as an editor of the American Indian Law Review. He interned at the OU Criminal Defense Clinic and the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, Capital Post-Conviction Division before moving to Ada, Oklahoma.
Josh grew up in Weleetka, Oklahoma, and considers southeast Oklahoma his home. He is a member of the following organizations:
He is also the former president of the Pontotoc County Bar Association. Josh is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Oklahoma, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the Chickasaw Nation, and the Seminole Nation.
Ethan L. Byrd
Focuses on Criminal Defense, Contract Law and General Civil Litigation
Ethan graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and was among the first class to sit for the Uniform Bar Examination offered in Oklahoma. During law school, he interned for the Seminole County District Attorney’s Office as a Licensed Legal Intern through the Oklahoma Bar Association, where he conducted multiple court hearings and appearances.
Upon graduation, he returned to join us at the Law Offices of James R. Neal, having interned during his undergraduate studies at East Central University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Legal Studies with High Honors. Ethan has represented hundreds of clients in criminal cases and civil hearings.
SERVICE – The value of providing quality service has been instilled in Ethan from a very young age, having worked alongside his parents and brothers in their local business for most of his life. He brings this same level of service to his clients.
INTEGRITY – Ethan ascribes to the belief that integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain. One interaction with Ethan is all it takes to see he walks the walk.
Ethan grew up in Vanoss, Oklahoma, and has lived in the Ada area his entire life. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Pontotoc County Bar Association and is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Pontotoc County Bar Association, the Chickasaw Nation Bar Association, and the Choctaw Nation Bar Association. Mr. Byrd’s areas of practice include criminal defense, contract law, and general civil litigation. I asked my friend John Slater in Davis for a recommendation. He suggested Joshua Edwards. My call to the Neal Law Office was answered by Monica who patiently listened while I described my dilemma and directed my call to Ethan Byrd in their office who has more experience in similar situations. Ethan took 30 minutes and explained what I could do on my own including the filing of a replevin action to expedite the process and save some attorney fees. The graciousness struck me as a very neighborly gesture and I told Ethan that his generosity and expertise was certainly worth a signature cheesecake. I got the results I needed with no out of pocket expenses, so today I paid off my self imposed debt with a handcrafted lemonade cheesecake made with fresh squeezed lemon juice and a dusting of zest for Ethan, Monica and the staff to enjoy (I'm a graduate of the culinary & restaurant department at OSU). When life gives you lemons, make lemonade cheesecake ! I certainly pledged to bring any other business I might have to their office, and I hope that readers of this review realize that most legal matters can't be handled with a cheesecake, but this happened to be a special circumstance.
