Personal Injury
Nursing Home Neglect & Abuse
If your loved one is living in a nursing home, you pay the facility to provide a safe, professional, caring, environment. You also expect the facility to have a trained staff that is there to provide for your loved one’s mental and physical well-being. Unfortunately, nursing homes often neglect their duties and do not provide adequate care or qualified staff.
When negligence occurs, nursing homes and their owners must be held accountable in order to protect those you love.
Our attorneys hold these facilities responsible for their actions.
It can be hard to identify neglect or abuse due to limited cognitive abilities of nursing home residents. Here are some examples of nursing home neglect and/or abuse:
- Patients who are malnourished and/or dehydrated
- Residents with visible bedsores
- Excessive staff turnover
- Slip and fall injuries, often resulting in broken hips and other bones
- Inattentive or incompetent care givers
- Improperly administered medication
- Dirty bedroom, dining, or common area conditions
Nursing homes are motivated by profits. However, they are obligated to provide your family members with high-quality care. Our attorneys have the experience to protect your rights, ensuring safer care for all patients across Oklahoma.

Felony Procedure
Arrest – The defendant is arrested and taken to jail. Usually within 48 hours of arrest, the person will appear in front of a judge for informal arraignment.
Informal Arraignment – At this stage, the judge tells the defendant the charges the state has alleged. Usually bond is set, although for serious felonies, there may be a special bond hearing.
Bond Hearing – The Court will determine whether the defendant is eligible to be released on bail and the amount of bond that should be set.
Preliminary Hearing Conference –This conference is scheduled to allow the defendant’s attorney and the State’s attorney to discuss the case. The State will reveal its recommendation for sentencing if the defendant chooses to enter a plea of guilty.
Preliminary Hearing – This is usually the first major hearing in a felony case. The State must prove there is probable cause to believe the defendant committed a crime. This hearing is conducted in front of a judge only; there is no jury. If the Court finds there is probable cause to continue the case, then the defendant is “bound over for formal arraignment.”
Evidentiary Hearings – The defendant’s attorney may set hearings to suppress certain evidence or to dismiss certain charges. These hearings are presented to a judge who determines whether the evidence should be admitted into the case against the defendant.
Formal Arraignment – The court formally reads the charge against the defendant, and the defendant enters a plea of guilty or not guilty. A trial date may be set at this time.
Trial – At this stage, a judge or jury hears the facts and evidence of the case and renders a verdict/decision.
We provide proven results in criminal defense cases – we fight for you and your rights. The criminal process is complicated and stressful. We take pride in providing aggressive and experienced legal representation and keeping our clients informed during the entire process.
